In addition to providing general track maintenance and cleaning, our optional rail wheel and creeper system makes the Supersucker® ideal for cleanups and bulk spills along the tracks as well as remote vacuum jobs away from access roads. This option also makes our truck mounted, industrial vacuum loaders quite valuable when emergency response is needed.

The rail wheels allow the unit to be driven over rail tracks and driven to remote locations via the tracks. The rail wheel package includes rail wheels mounted front and rear. Additional options can include an operator seat and platform mounted on the rear of the unit, a hydraulically operated telescopic boom and a hydrostatically driven creeper system, which allows the unit to move and vacuum simultaneously.

Rail Wheels

The rail wheels are located on the front of the unit just below and behind the front bumper, and on the rear of the unit underneath the very end of the chassis frame rails. Both sets of wheels are hydraulically raised and lowered and each has their respective hydraulic controls, located adjacent to them.

Supersucker Rail Wheels and Creeper SystemThe hydraulic source for these wheels is the main Supersucker hydraulic system. The front rail wheels actually raise the front chassis tires off of the ground. Once fully engaged, the front rail wheels lock into an over center position so that they will not “creep” down. The rear rail wheels are lowered until they meet the rail tracks. The rear rail wheels do not raise the rear of the unit but they do align the rear of the unit onto the tracks, and allow for the main drive tires to still touch the ground. The rear drive tires propel the unit just as they would if the unit were being driven on a road.

Operator Seat and Platform

Supersucker Rail Wheels and Operator SystemThe optional rear operator seat and platform allow an operator to operate the unit while it is on the rail tracks. The operator seat includes a seatbelt, adjustable seat and all required controls to operate the unit. Once the unit has been driven over the rail tracks and the rail wheels engaged, the operator can perform all necessary functions from the operator seat. The controls include two multi-directional joysticks and several toggle switches. The rear seat and platform are easily removed if not needed and also do not need to be removed to dump the payload.

Creeper System

The creeper system is a hydrostatically-driven system that propels the unit forward and backwards while on the rail tracks. It also allows the unit to vacuum and propel at the same time. The system is driven off of the Supersucker transfer case. The hydraulic source for the creeper system includes an oil cooler and is separate from the main Supersucker hydraulic system. The creeper system speed is controlled by one of the joysticks at the rear operator seat.

NOTE: If the unit is equipped with a pendant control only, for the creeper system (no rear operator seat), the operator will have 2-3 different creeper speeds to pick from, via the pendant

Telescopic Hydraulic boom with Power Rotation

The hydraulic boom is mounted on the top center of the collector body. The boom is equipped with an 8” diameter intake hose and the boom stores to the rear of the collector body. The boom includes power rotation of a minimum of 305°, telescopic extension and retraction and power raising and lowering. The boom is also designed to allow for it to remove/install the rear operator seat and platform. The boom controls are located at the rear operator seat. There is also a pendant control included for the boom so that the boom can be used on conventional jobs.
